I quite don't get what VentureBeat's writer Dylan Tweney wanted to do here, but it appears that he doesn't like TechCrunch to say the least.
You can read everything that was written on the story in a post by TechCrunch's founder (now retired) here, which includes the now taken down post by VentureBeat.
It's a pity Dylan Tweney didn't try to contact the involved parties in advance. For all I know, it does more damage to VentureBeat's credibility than to the reputation of TechCrunch.
As a reader of both blogs, I feel like I assisted to some private argument that I was not supposed to witness... I will probably continue to read both blogs but with different eyes from now on.
